Formation of foals and young horses
Most young domesticated horses are treated at birth or within the first few days of life, although some are treated only for the first time when they are weaned from their mothers, or dams. Supporters of handling foals from birth sometimes uses the concept of imprinting to introduce a colt in his first few days and weeks of life for many of the activities that will see throughout their lives.
